According to the wife of British-Iranian citizen Alireza Akbari, the convict asked her to come to his Tehran prison for a “last meeting”.

Akbari's wife, Maryam, said that her husband asked her to visit him in a prison in Tehran for a “last meeting”.
The Iranian authorities took Alireza Akbari into custody yet in 2019. Later, the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced him to death.
The former Deputy Minister of Defense of the country is charged with espionage activities in favor of the UK. At the same time, Akbari does not admit his guilt.
The Persian service of the BBC received an audio message from Alireza Akbari, in which he talks about the torture he experienced. The official claims that they tried to force him to confess in front of the camera what he did not do.
The incident was responded to by the British Foreign Office for the Commonwealth and Development. The department said they support the family members of the convicted person and have raised his case with the Iranian authorities several times.
“Our priority is to ensure his immediate release, and we repeated our request for urgent consular access,” said a Foreign Ministry spokesman UK.
