It's been a few months now that the information regarding the successor to the Nintendo Switch are starting to multiply. Nintendo has already confirmed that the console will not be launched this year, but that an announcement will take place in ;#8217;by March 31, 2025. Recently, it was Eurogamer who indicated that the machine should not arrive in our hands before (at best) April 2025.< /p>
A price of $499 for the Nintendo Switch 2?
At the moment, Nintendo has not made any official information regarding what has been called the “Nintendo Switch 2” for months. Obviously, the console will be more powerful than the current Nintendo Switch OLED, but it is impossible to find out more. On the competition side, Sony and Microsoft have increased the price (if not the power) of their PS5 and Xbox Series. And at Nintendo, this should be the case as well.
Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda believes the next Switch will be released in the first half of 2025 (which could mean between April-July) and would cost under $499 https://t.co/qgTAsz2rMy pic.twitter.com/qbP3d1Ym3e

Indeed, according to analyst Hideki Yasuda (Toyo Securities), Nintendo's future console should be offered at a price lower than $499 in the United States. A price significantly higher than that of the Nintendo Switch launched on March 3, 2017, then set at $299 in the United States. In Europe, the console was then offered at a recommended retail price of €329.
It remains to be seen how Nintendo will position its new console on a global scale, with a sale price that could then exceed €500 on the Old Continent, not to mention a sale price also higher in Japan.
In terms of power, according to the same Hideki Yasuda, Nintendo's new console would be a little less powerful than a PS4 Pro. Not really enough to surprise Nintendo fans, who, for several generations now, have prioritized innovation and user experience.
As Gamescom 2024 prepares to open its doors, it is rumored that some developers are already working on major launch games for Nintendo's new console. With increased power, we imagine that Nintendo's future console will be able to accommodate successful franchises, absent from the Nintendo Switch. Likewise, it is not unlikely that some titles already available on the console will be optimized on Nintendo's future machine.
Let's remember that the Nintendo Switch reached 141.32 million units sold as of March 31, 2024. For the current fiscal year (which ends in March 2025), Nintendo plans to sell another 13.5 million consoles. In spring 2025, the console should then come dangerously close to 160 million sales, the record currently held by a certain PlayStation 2, and which was thought to be simply unbeatable.
It also remains to be seen what the official name of Nintendo's future console will be. Answer in the coming months.
