Toyota Mega Cruiser was created for the Japanese army, but 200 cars went on free sale. The huge SUV reaches 5.1 m in length and weighs 2.8 tons.
A rare 1996 Toyota Mega Cruiser found in the USA. The huge SUV is the Japanese analogue of the famous Hummer H1. Details of the car were revealed on the Cars and Bids auction site, where it is currently for sale.
Like the Hummer, the Toyota Mega Cruiser was originally designed for the army, but in 1996 a civilian version of the model appeared. In total, about 3,000 SUVs were assembled, but only 200 of them went on sale. Moreover, most of these machines remained in Japan.
Mega Cruiser is Toyota's largest SUV, it reaches 5090 mm in length, 2170 mm wide and 2075 mm high with a wheelbase of 3395 mm. The design of the car resembles a Hummer.
In the cabin of a huge car, only four separate seats are installed, and leather and wood are used in the decoration. The equipment includes heated all seats, a rearview camera, air conditioning, a refrigerator and even a DVD player with three TVs.
The SUV weighing 2.8 tons is equipped with a 4.1-liter 155-horsepower turbodiesel and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Its four-wheel drive is complemented by a reduction gear and differential locks. The Toyota Mega Cruiser also received steerable rear wheels and huge off-road tires.
This particular car came from Japan to Kazakhstan, and from there it was exported to the USA. Now its mileage is 90,900 km.
