Two men arrested after stealing $30,000 in Lac-Saint-Jean

Thieves stole $30,000 in cash from Labrecque.

Two men were arrested by Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers overnight from Wednesday to Thursday after stealing $30,000 from an institution financial.

The police were called shortly after midnight Thursday morning and went to a financial institution located on Principale Street, in Labrecque, Lac-Saint-Jean.

At the scene, they found that there had been a forced entry.

Two hours later, law enforcement received a call in connection with a suspicious vehicle spotted in the parking lot of a business of the 7th Rang in Saint-Nazaire. This discovery allowed them to arrest the two occupants of the vehicle.

Bernard Desbiens, 51, of St-Honoré, and Pierre St-Gelais, 39, of St-Ambroise, appeared late Wednesday afternoon, the SQ said in a statement.

Pierre St-Gelais is detained, but Bernard Desbiens has been released. He will have to return to court for further proceedings.

Several charges have been brought against the two men, including break and enter, theft, mischief and possession of narcotics.< /p>

The police succeeded in recovering the stolen money.

According to the SQ, the vigilance and cooperation of the public made it possible to put the hand around the collar of thugs.
