Two people dead in collision between two vehicles on Highway 50

Three people were transported to a hospital following a two-vehicle accident Saturday night on Highway 50. < /p>

Two people succumbed to their injuries following a collision between two vehicles, which occurred early Saturday evening on Highway 50, in Lochaber-Partie-Ouest, Outaouais.

Shortly before 6:15 p.m., Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers received a call reporting an accident involving two vehicles on the highway.

Once there, the police found that it was a face-to-face between two cars, according to the SQ. Three people were taken to hospital.

In one of the vehicles, there were two men, who were seriously injured, explained Saturday evening a spokesperson for the SQ, Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre.

The other injured person was in the second vehicle. According to the latest news, his life is not in danger, said the SQ.

The accident led to the closure of a section of the railway. Highway 50 on Saturday evening, between exit 174 towards Doherty Road and exit 187 towards Route 317. A bypass had been set up on Route 148.

A re-enactor headed to the scene on Saturday evening to shed light on the accident. The causes and circumstances of the collision are currently unknown. The investigation is continuing, the police force added.
