A traffic accident resulted in the deaths of two residents of Caraquet, New Brunswick, on Saturday evening.

A head-on collision involving two automobiles occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 11 in Pokemouche, AC Peninsula adienne.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), a 73-year-old woman died at the scene.

A 69-year-old woman was taken to hospital but died of her injuries. A person who was a passenger in the motorist's car was also hospitalized and seriously injured, according to the RCMP.
