Ukraine became the main theme of the war correspondents award in France

The jury stated that that the level of work was so high that it was difficult to decide between reports.

The theme of Ukraine was the main one in almost all categories of the annual Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents. And Ukrainian journalists Mstislav Chernov and Evgeny Maloletka received an award in two categories for reporting from Mariupol, the press service reports.

“Together with colleagues, I discovered works of absolute perfection. The level was so high that it was difficult to decide between reports!”, – said the head of the jury, the German journalist Thomas Dvorak.

Chernov became the winner in the nomination “Video Image”. The youngster received an award in the “Photo” nomination.

“Journalism will always be less important than suffering people. Not everyone was lucky enough to get out of Mariupol, but Evgeniy Maloetka and I succeeded. The main thing is that the original photo and video material was with us and we were able to share it with the whole world,” Chernov said.

In most nominations of this year's award, journalistic materials from Ukraine won.

Let us remind you that earlier Ukrainian journalists were awarded the Pulitzer Prize.
