The general strike will go ahead if we do not have significant progress on each of the four pillars which structure our specifications, indicates Louis-Philipe Lampron, president of the Union of teachers of the Laval University (SPUL).

The SPUL is asking for a reduction in the work overload, a salary increase, greater participation in the development of the main orientations of the university. establishment and protection of vulnerable employees.

859 union members voted at a general meeting held on Wednesday before noon in the amphitheater of the Pavilion of Physical Education and Sports.

The management party ensures that the negotiations are blocked on salaries. “Université Laval has the ability to pay and cannot afford increases of 20% on June 1, 2023,” said Andrée-Anne Stewart, assistant director of the communications department, on Wednesday.
