Nearly 300 people gathered yesterday on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville where the exhibition “Je suis toujours Charlie” is being presented. Ten years later, around fifteen photos of the tribute in which 100,000 people participated on 11 January 2015 are being presented.

After a speech by the president of the press club, Mayor Michaël Delafosse cited the names of the victims and observed a minute of silence. “It was inconceivable not to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attack.” Denouncing “the cruelty of Islamist fanaticism”, the mayor invoked the Declaration of Human Rights and the legacy of Voltaire.

He saluted the Club, at the origin of the gathering, marking “the return of fraternity and citizenship”. A non-believer, the mayor shared the image that struck him the most, that of the imam, the archbishop and the rabbi side by side. A symbol of freedom. “We are still Charlie!”
