Already marketed on the Chinese market, the Restyled Model Y is arriving in France. Currently available in a limited edition Long Range All-Wheel Drive, the Model Y (2025) is changing its face and is intended to be more upscale.
Its new lines and the materials used improve its performance, its autonomy as well as the comfort at the wheel. This redesign was highly anticipated by fans of the brand, but not only. The Model Y is in fact the first electric model to rank #1 in sales of all engines combined. Needless to say, the pressure on this new generation is strong.
Before taking it on the French roads, we were able to climb aboard the Restyled Model Y. Here are the main points to remember.

Like the Model 3, the Model Y has seen its design completely redesigned. Tesla claims to have changed 70% of the materials in order to improve the aerodynamics of the car as well as the comfort inside.
This new design is first inspired by the Cybertruck and the Cybercab. At the front, the headlights stretch across the entire width of the bumper, which gives the Model Y a futuristic look. The nose, more plunging and devoid of the Tesla logo, gives a more aggressive look to the family SUV. An effect reinforced by the lower ground clearance, as well as the more angular rearview mirrors.

At the back, Tesla has integrated the largest bright LEDon an electric vehicle of this range. With a length of 1.60 meters, it diffuses a red light revealing the words “TESLA” on a textured coating with a most beautiful effect. The rear spoiler is also more profiled in order to reinforce the sporty side.

Often criticized for its overly rounded lines, Tesla's electric SUV seems to have molted. Its new lines are a clear contrast to the previous generation. For our part, we find the design work very successful: the Model Y gains in character. In a word, the Restyled Model Y has a face!
Like the Restyled Model 3, the new design of the Model Y also improves its performance. The better aerodynamics allow it to go from to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds compared to 5 seconds for the previous generation. The theoretical autonomy is also improved: it goes from 537 km to 568 km. It's worth it.
More premium interior

The interior of the Restyled Model Y has also undergone numerous aesthetic adjustments (the volume does not change one iota). More comfortable, the seats now include a ventilation system in addition to heating. A significant comfort in hot regions or during heat waves.
The steering wheel, bearing the TESLA name instead of the logo, now includes quick access buttons to the most important functions, including access to the cameras or activating the microphone.
Above all, Tesla explains that it has heard complaints from users of the Restyled Model 3 regarding the lack of a komodo. The Restyled Model Y does include a comodoto activate the indicators on the left of the steering wheel. On the other hand, the right stalk to activate the driving modes has been removed. As on the Model 3, everything happens on the central screen, refined for the occasion.

The side speakers now follow the lines of the door. Tesla took the opportunity to add two to its audio system in order to further improve the sound quality, which was already very good.

Finally, the entire interior has been the subject of the greatest attention in design to address criticism of the use of plastic. Now, a gray fabric felt runs along the entire dashboard, the central storage compartments are molded in a visibly more solid textured plastic. Highlight of the show, a customizable LED runs along the contours of the cabin, from the dashboard to the rear doors. Guaranteed effect.

Rear passengers won't have to be jealous of owners of the Restyled Model 3: The Model Y (2025) also has a second screen 8’’ positioned in the center. Identical to that of the Model 3, it allows you to adjust the settings at the rear of the vehicle (air conditioning, heating, etc.) but also to access entertainment services (music, Netflix, Youtube, Twitch etc.) independently of the front screen.

What else? All glass surfaces are stronger and more insulating. Tesla promises that the road and wind noise are reduced by 22%. These windows also allow light to be better reflected, which can have an impact on the frequency of heating and/or air conditioning and therefore, by ricochet, on autonomy.
Limited edition at a gold price

For the launch of its new Model Y, Tesla is being cautious. At the launch in France, only a limited edition Grande Autonomie Transmission Intégrale is available, in two colors: QuickSilver (the one in our static test) and black.
The bad news: this edition is offered at 60,990 euros or more than 10,000 euros more than the same version of the old generation. A price that could be explained by the exclusive nature of this model which will be launched in March 2025.
