We know more about the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld

The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld cloud gaming device will be launched on October 18th.

Logitech G announced in early August the Cloud Gaming Handheld, its replica of Valve's popular Steam Deck. The new handheld device designed to play cloud video games (cloud gaming) still had no price or release date. The company remedied this during its Logi PLAY conference on Wednesday.

Specialists predicted that the Logitech model would be less expensive than the Steam Deck. These folks got it right: while gamers have to shell out $500 to $820 to get their hands on Valve's device, Logitech G's version — which works in partnership with Tencent, Microsoft, and Nvidia — will come into its own at $400.

It will be necessary to wait until October 18 to obtain the video game device, whose screen is 17.8 cm. This offers 1080p image quality, with a refresh rate of up to 60 frames per second.

The handheld weighs 463g, which makes it lighter than its competitor, the Steam Deck, which comes in at 669g on the scale. For comparison, the Nintendo Switch console weighs 398g with the Joy-Cons controllers.

We wanted to challenge ourselves to build a device that was fully optimized for cloud gaming, said Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech Gaming, in a statement.

That means precise controls – similar to those of a high-end Xbox controller – a large HD display, amazing battery life and a lightweight design so gamers can enjoy long gaming sessions, without any compromises, a he added, referring to the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld.

Logitech and Tencent's partnership with Nvidia and Microsoft ensures the device is optimized for Xbox Cloud services Gaming and GeForce Now. And since the handheld runs on the Android operating system, cloud gaming apps like Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and even Steam Link will be able to be added right from the Google Play Store.

Apps from popular content platforms such as YouTube and Netflix, as well as Android games, will also be downloadable to the device.
