Severance is the series that has brought everyone together in recent years. When its first season aired in February 2022, the feedback was unanimous. While the last episode left us with a masterful cliffhanger, fans could only wait for the sequel. Apple TV+ focuses on quality over quantity, and Severancewas not going to be an exception. So, the streaming platform took its time. But this Friday, January 17, 2025 marks (finally) the return of Severance to our screens.

We can say that season 2 of Severance has work to do. By leaving us with an unbearable suspense, this season will have to live up to the viewers' expectations. Is this the case ? We were able to discover the first two episodes of season 2 of Severance. Here's what we thought of it.

The return to Lumon Industries is made with a bang. While Mark Scout and his team work in the macrodata refinement department in a huge and very mysterious company. What they do ? Nobody really knows, not even them. But what they work on is important. So important, and confidential, that these employees had to undergo surgery to distinctly separate their professional memories from their personal memories.

So, the professional does not mix with the personal. When they leave their office, they have no idea what they did during their work day. Conversely, when they are at work, they do not know who they are outside their open space. The arrival of Helly R., a new employee who has difficulty accepting this fate, upsets the fragile balance of the company, and the orderly daily life of her colleagues.

Throughout the episodes of season 1 of Severance, the “Innies” (the employees) arise more in addition to questions, about the company, their role but also about their “Outies”, their alter ego in “real life”.

We're not going to lie , it's a pleasure to find Severance. The sanitized aesthetic, both satisfying and disturbing, is still there and this new season gives us some particularly good staging ideas. After almost three years, it takes us a few moments to put the pieces of the puzzle back together but the series has thought of everything so that no one is lost. As a result, we quickly get back into the swing of things Severance.

While we feel a certain pleasure in returning to Lumon Industries and finding its mysteries, as well as our favorite employees, this new season seems to have a big flaw. That of not really answering our questions. On the contrary. If we were hoping to have answers fairly quickly (after three years, it's the least we can do), this season 2 overwhelms us with new questions and new mysteries.

If the lack of answers and the arrival of new questions creates a certain frustration, it also allows us to be drawn in a little more. One thing is certain: we can't wait to discover the rest of season 2 of Severance. Hopefully we'll end up with some answers to sink our teeth into.
