Pope Francis during the morning audience on November 9 again called for a diplomatic settlement of the military conflict in Ukraine. The pontiff is convinced that the Russian-Ukrainian war cannot be “resolved with the help of weapons”, so it is necessary to negotiate. This is reported by the Italian edition Agenzia Nova.

According to the head of the Vatican, no wars, including in Ukraine, can be settled “using the infantile logic of weapons.” Instead of an armed solution, Francis proposed using the “soft power of dialogue”.

“I think of the insane war that tormented Ukraine has become a victim. And of many other conflicts that will never be resolved with the infantile logic of weapons, but only with the soft power of dialogue,” the pontiff emphasized.

As As an example, Francis cited his recent trip to Bahrain, which he said was a new step in the path of dialogue between Christians and Muslims. He noted the importance of creating brotherly relations on the basis of common authorities for both religions, which is the forefather Abraham.

“In Bahrain – as is customary in the East – people put their hands on their hearts when they greet someone. Me too I did this in order to make room inside myself for those I meet. Because without a willingness to accept, the dialogue remains empty, it remains a matter of ideas, not reality,” Francis summed up.

Russian media October 26 reported that Pope Francis invited Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin to hold talks in the Vatican to resolve the war in Ukraine. In addition, the pontiff spoke in favor of holding a large conference on security in Europe in his residence.
