KhMZ-1M was created with an eye on the American Harley-Davidson. In total, only 300 of these motorcycles were produced, and only one copy of the model has survived to this day.

The first Ukrainian motorcycle was developed in Kharkov in the early 30s under the guidance of designer Soldatenko. It was created with an eye on Harley-Davidson – an American bike was bought and set off on it for a 4000 km test rally.
The design of the front fork was borrowed from Harley-Davidson, and the teardrop-shaped gas tank is a trademark of American bikes.
The Ukrainian motorcycle KhMZ-1M was equipped with a 350 cc engine with a capacity of 8 liters. With. and 3-speed manual transmission. He accelerated to 90 km/h and consumed 3.5 liters per 100 km. Among the features of the model are a chain drive, brakes on all wheels and two headlights.
The KhMZ-1M production was launched at the Kharkov Automobile Assembly Plant. It was planned to produce 4000 motorcycles and send some of them to the army, but in the end only 300 units were assembled.
Case the fact that the central Soviet government did not want to produce motorcycles in Ukraine and the assembly of the KhMZ-1M was stopped. Only at the end of the 40s the Ukrainian SSR was given the go-ahead and the production of motorcycles was launched in Kyiv.
Only one copy of the KhMZ-1M has survived to this day. It has been restored and is kept in a private collection.
