The website "Dream City" has just published the 2025 ranking of cities and villages where life is good. Discover the scores of Béziers, Agde and Pézenas as well as the municipalities of the Béziers Méditerranée Agglo.

The website Dream Cityhas just published the 2025 ranking of cities and villages in France where life is good. Béziers ranks 19th (out of 47) among intermediate cities. The city of Riquet obtains an overall score of 70.1 points out of 100. Although it loses 3.5 points compared to the previous year, it gains 64 places in this national ranking.

Commercial dynamism

In detail, Béziers obtains excellent scores for health (86/100), sport (84/100) and cost of living (81/100). The municipality far exceeds the average in terms of leisure (77/100), accessibility and transport (75/100), heritage (73/100), weather (73/100), quality of life (70/100). Which makes analysts say about Dream city: “Béziers is famous for its warm atmosphere and accessible infrastructure, it offers a pleasant living environment. The city is distinguished by its commercial dynamism with more than 1,400 restaurants and 233 bars, perfect for gourmets and night owls.” The site also notes, in terms of transport, that “Béziers is ideally located, close to the Béziers – Cap-d'Agde airport and a well-developed rail network. However, the accessibility score could be improved, particularly in terms of charging stations for electric vehicles”.

Could do better for education

Béziers also gets good marks in terms of culture (59/100), dynamism (54/100) and economy and work (52/100). Two black spots, however, degrade the Béziers ranking: natural and technological risks (14/100) and the climate in 2025 (21/100). Furthermore, Béziers does not shine in terms of education (35/100) and the site Dream city notes: “In the field of education, the scores are not yet up to expectations. Schools show varied results and the coverage of daycare centers needs to be improved.”

Agde progresses and Pézenas loses places

For its part, Agde has an overall score of 65/100 (2.1 points lost compared to 2024). The city of Éphèbe occupies 737th place (out of 1,482) in the ranking of small towns, gaining 302 places compared to the previous year. The town records excellent scores in accessibility and transport (79/100), sport (79/100), education (77/100), leisure (76/100), weather (75/100) and attractiveness (71/100). The picture gets darker in terms of security (19/100), natural and technological risks (26/100) and climate in 2050 (27/100).

With its 7,800 inhabitants, Pézenas has an overall score of 70.8/100 (1.7 points lost compared to 2024). It ranks 2,437th (out of 18,895) in the village rankings in 2025, losing 2,115 places compared to the previous year. The site Dream City estimates that “this city is very well equipped considering the size of its population”. The city of Molière scores 92/100 for weather, 88/100 for sports, 81/100 for health, and 80/100 for quality of life. Pézenas scores 20/100 for climate in 2025 and 25/100 for nature.

To establish its ranking, Dream city prides itself on using 725 data points per municipality (+ 50 compared to 2024), from 132 public or private sources and data sets, making it possible to establish 19 categorical scores, then to determine the top municipalities. The ranking takes into account traffic jams, the presence of eternal pollutants (Pfas), long-distance coach services, local taxes and remarkable heritage sites.
