Igor KOZLOV, “the FACTS”
Dozens of years among fans of the occult, mysticism and other popular history that the top leadership of Nazi Germany possessed some secrets that gives him super powers representatives. The proponents of this theory will certainly mention some secret file containing the details of millions of witches burned in Germany in the Middle ages and at the beginning of a new story. This card file allegedly disappeared in the spring of 1945, in the last weeks of the Third Reich.
Earlier, the “FACTS” published the true story of the last days of life and death of Heinrich Himmler, one of the leaders of the Third Reich, which, as it turns out, was the main initiator of the study of witch hunts in Germany.
The German magazine Focus published a long article devoted to unusual interest Himmler to the issue of the persecution of witches. “FACTS” produced a complete translation of this publication.
“Heinrich Himmler was a lot of weirdness. Including his obsession with witches. For example, subordinates of the head of the SS for years gathering information on alleged witches, making a special filing Cabinet. Himmler had two ideological goals: the formation of the German cult and inciting hatred of Jews.
When in 1935, two years after came to power, Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler had consolidated their power, becoming the head of the SS, he was finally able to concentrate on things to which he has long felt a personal interest.
The man who ruthlessly and brutally acted against the opponents of Nazism and eventually became the Creator of the concentration camps and death camps, was interested in the fact that even the other Nazi leaders, including Adolf Hitler, believed quite strange. It had to do with passion Himmler witches.
In the burning of witches in the middle Ages and the beginning of a new story he saw no less than a conspiracy against the imaginary “old German culture.” After all, witches are believed Himmler was part of the German spirit, which he wanted to associate with the activities and ideology of the SS.
In the persecution and burning of witches he accused the organization and part of the population, which was going to be hard to fight: the Catholic Church and Jews.
German women were burned at the stake as witches on false accusations of the conspirators-Jews? Yes, this thesis Himmler sought to prove. From this it followed that Jews have long conspired against the people of Germany. And this is completely consistent with the ideology of the Nazis.
In fact, the accusation that the Jews were in any way connected with the witch hunt, from a historical point of view, simply absurd. As for the Catholic Church, it will bear only partial responsibility for it.
In the middle ages and the beginning of a new story of the witches were executed most often, because their pursuers were it’s own personal motives. Very often it was a question of personal animosity, family disputes, or simply money. In many cases the Pope and the Emperor tried to, and unsuccessfully, to stop the hunt.
When in the pursuit was involved in the Church, it was mainly local priests and preachers. The claim that then millions of women in Germany were burned as witches, are greatly exaggerated. Much more realistic sound data is about 50-60 thousands of such executions, which, of course, also testifies to the suffering of many innocent women.
But this is not interested in Himmler. The victim he didn’t care. He promoted the cult of the German and saw in the history of the persecution of witches the opportunity to blame it on the Jews. The more guilty he could impose nevraev, the easier it was to explain the reasons for their discrimination, mass destruction, murder.
Crimes against women committed in the distant past, he wanted to use to justify their own crimes against the Jews in the present. But other leaders of the Nazis, who certainly were not trying to protect the Jews, laughed at him, or behind him, or, as Hermann Goering did so openly, emphasizing weird beliefs “agronomist Himmler” (Heinrich Himmler the years 1919-1922 she studied agronomy at the agricultural Department of the Higher technical school at the University of Munich. — Ed.).
Besides Himmler fixated on the story often told by his cousin Wilhelm August Patin. He was an SS obersturmbannführer and as the rector of Munich’s main Church and claimed that the witch was even in his own family Himmler. However, the authenticity of this family Saga has never been proven.
During research on the history of the persecution of witches, which he initiated, floated the name of a certain Margaret Gibler. In 1629 she was burned as a witch in Mergentheim. But whether it consisted in related relations with the family Himmler, to find out it was impossible.
Patin participated in the initial phase in the work of the group in the summer of 1935, reichsführer SS Himmler was finally able to create to explore the persecution of witches. Under the leadership of SS sturmbannführer Robert Levin, young, having just received a PhD historian, he has assembled a team of 14 employees. Levin, whose task was to find evidence of the guilt of the Jews in the persecution of witches, didn’t see the problem in the fact that shortly before he wrote his doctoral thesis with Professor-Jew who in the same year, was forced to leave Germany because he was not Aryan roots.
The band members were pretending to be students, because Himmler was afraid of the ridicule of Hitler, göring and other senior Nazi functionaries. Therefore, the project received the code name “Sonderkommando H”. With the letter “H” starts the word “Hexe” witch in German.
The group’s efforts were huge. 14 modest workers studied materials from more than 260 in archives and libraries. They looked through all possible documents and books.
Every time they found evidence the woman was burned as a witch, they made about her card. Each of the cards included 37 items that were supposed to fill the members of the group.
It was personal information such as name and address of the victim as well as the information about the arrest, trial, plea and finally the sentence and the execution. The statements of the witnesses were not indicated. This is not surprising because if they were fixed, it would be clear that the Jews and the Catholic Church did not play a leading role in the persecution of witches. This, of course, was not in the interests of Himmler.
Thus, by the beginning of 1944 was formed the “card index of the witch”, which included 3 621 dossiers and 33 thousand 846 cards. About 500 files are to women who were not German. In them it was even about women from Mexico and India.
Because Himmler wanted to promote among the population the justice of the persecution of the Jews and the Catholic Church through research of a witch hunt, he insisted, to “discoveries” made by members of the “Sonderkommando H” issued in a popular form — in the form of short stories, a volume of from 60 to 100 pages, to be quickly and easily read. Levin wanted to make everything as large-scale historical study.
Ka whatever it was, none of these stories, no great scientific work was not not what is published, but not even written. Work progressed very slowly, the whole project was too time-consuming, and the number of study participants is small. In addition, the members of the “Sonderkommando H” was not sufficiently prepared to tauraroa.
Levin hoped that this study will form the basis of his thesis, but he collected materials were rejected in 1944 by the Committee of the University of Munich.
It says a lot, since part of the Committee professors were carefully selected and perfectly understood what is expected of them. But the results of a study presented Levin was so weak that they are unable to overcome their principles of real historians.
In January 1944 the work of the “Sonderkommando H” was stopped because of the situation at the front. And in the last weeks before the German surrender filing witches along with other documents of the Main Department of Reich security was sent to the castle to Schliersee in Silesia near poznań.
There it was discovered in February 1945, when the Red army entered the city. For the Soviet military was a mystery. As a result, it for decades disappeared in the archive of the poznań Voivodeship and only in the 80s, was discovered by the German historian, who dealt with the theme of the persecution of witches.
For today’s science but this file Cabinet has a very limited value, as it is compiled with errors and contains important data about the motives of the persecution. Moreover, it largely relies on archival data that was destroyed at the end of the Second world war. To check the validity of indexes is not possible. However, it still proves what delusions was obsessed with one of the most terrible criminals of the Third Reich Heinrich Himmler”.
