Why this parked car was flashed speeding ?

Getting a speeding ticket is never really fun. But it's even more frustrating when the ticket is pointed at you even though you weren't driving at the time. Yes, the machines aren't infallible and mistakes can happen. This is what several motorists in the South-West of France have realized.

Between Mondoville and Montaigut-sur-Save, a driver was fined for speeding: 89 km/h instead of 80 km/h. The problem: his car was parked at his house at the time of the incident. What happened??

A malfunctioning radar that gets the date wrong

If the driver did not take the road on Sunday, November 5, 2023, contrary to what his ticket indicates, he realizes that he took this route at the specified time the next day. So, either the radar is a fortune teller or it is malfunctioning. Olivier, the driver, admits that he may have stepped on the gas a little on Monday, November 6 on the way home from work. But this radar error raises several questions, the main one being: can we trust this radar??

Indeed, if the date can be wrong, the speed at which the radar was triggered can also be wrong. Thus, the Toulouse driver was determined to challenge the public authorities. Almost a year after contesting his fine, he finally received a letter telling him that his contestation had finally been accepted. This is almost a miracle given that last May, the public prosecutor explained to him that he was not following up on his request for exemption.

Unfortunately, this driver is not the only one to have been wrongly fined by this radar. Another motorist reported the problem in August 2023 without anything being done. A colleague of Olivier was also given a speeding ticket on the wrong date. Another “driver” was allegedly speeding while his car was in the garage for repairs.

Thus, other motorists could file a complaint if they were flashed between June 16, 2023, the date of the last radar check, and December 26, 2023. But the administrative procedures are long and tedious.

As for the radar in question, we imagine that it has since been checked and that it now works perfectly.
