According to the Kremlin representative, the President of the Russian Federation will not congratulate his colleagues from “unfriendly countries” on the New Year holidays. Western heads of state never send congratulations to Moscow, Peskov stressed.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin's communication with journalists in the foreseeable future will not be the same as it was before the coronavirus pandemic. He stated this during a briefing on December 30, the Telegram channel “You listened to Mayak” reports.
“Honestly, it is unlikely [Putin's communication with the press] will be exactly the same as it was before the pandemic in the foreseeable future. There is nothing to hide. You see the processes of virus mutation, strong epidemiological waves of influenza,” Peskov commented.
He also clarified that those responsible for the health and safety of the head of the Kremlin should increase the precautionary measures for the president.
“In such circumstances, the president's health is a matter of state security,” Peskov added. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the Russian leader will be able to communicate with journalists “in a freer mode” when the waves of Covid-19 go to the bottom.”
“No, he will not [congratulate them]. These counterparts of ours do not send any congratulations themselves,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the Kremlin does not maintain contacts with the leaders of Western countries.
“Given the unfriendly actions that are undertaken on an ongoing basis, President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin] will not congratulate them,” Peskov concluded.
Xi Jinping, in turn, announced partnership and strategic relations with Russia for the benefit of both countries.
Negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping were announced by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov on December 26. He said that the two leaders would sum up the results of the outgoing year.
