Only those Russians who want to take part in the funeral of a close relative will be able to issue visas to Latvia.
The authorities of Latvia have decided to suspend the issuance of visas for any species to citizens of Russia. This was announced on Friday, August 5, by the press service of the Latvian embassy in the Russian Federation on its Twitter.
Diplomats reported that the acceptance of applications for visas for Russian citizens has been suspended for an indefinite period. The only exception to the new rule will be the issuance of visas to Russians who plan to travel to Latvia to attend the funeral of a close relative.
The Latvian embassy did not indicate the reasons for this decision.
