The New York Times has partnered with the American company Hasbro, specialized in games and toys.
The board game version of Wordle will be released next October.
Wordle, the popular online word game that has been acquired by the New York Times, will soon have a board game version called Wordle: The Party Game.
It's the famous American company Hasbro, specialized in games and toys, which will create the physical version of Wordle.
Wordle really brought everyone together, and that's what makes it so special, Jonathan Knight, head of games for The New York Times, said in a statement.
Each round, one player will host Wordle and write the secret word. As in the original game, other participants will be allowed six attempts to guess the five-letter word.
The goal of this table game will be to get fewer points than the other players by guessing the secret word in as few tries as possible.
The game , which will not be released until next October, can however already be pre-ordered.
Created by Welsh engineer Josh Wardle, Wordle is about discovering a five-letter word in just six tries. The platform only uploads one word per day. Wardle wanted to create this game to entertain his spouse and loved ones during the confinements linked to COVID-19.
Given the success of Wordle with his family, the computer engineer decided to release it to the public in October 2021. The game's popularity has grown steadily ever since, and it was picked up by the New York Times at the end of January 2022.
Wordle also inspired other similar games, such as the trivia game Heardle, which was bought by Spotify, where you have to guess the title of a song by listening to the first few seconds of it.
