Yanis Lenne close to Veszprém, Sebastian Karlsson in Paris: things are still moving at the MHB

Même si le dossier n’est pas tout à fait réglé pour le premier, le départ des deux ailiers droits du Montpellier Handball cet été se précise.

How far will Veszprém go ? At the rate things are going, the Hungarian club will soon have recruited all the vital forces of Montpellier Handball. After Ahmed Hesham, it is Yanis Lenne, another heavyweight of the MHB, who could change air and camp.

According to our information, discussions were started several weeks ago between the two clubs. Initially reluctant to let his international right winger leave, under contract until 2027, Julien Deljarry would have finally decided to see him fly away next June.

The salary (double) promised to the eldest of the Lenne brothers, currently convalescing (back problems), his desire to live a new adventure abroad at 28 years old and especially the transfer fee fiercely negotiated (300,000 euros a priori) seem to have made all the difference.

Karlsson made official this week at PSG

Contacted Friday afternoon, the president of the MHB acknowledges advanced talks and an inevitable outcome. “You can't keep a player against his will”, suggests another regular at the FDI Stadium where unofficial or official departures (Stas Skube, Karl Konan, Ahmed Hesham, Veron Nacinovic and now Yanis Lenne) are piling up. And it's not over!

At the beginning of the week, Paris Saint-Germain should indeed announce the signing of Sebastian Karlsson. Despite an offer to extend his contract, the Swede, who arrived in Montpellier in 2023 to replace Yanis Lenne, would have finally succumbed to the sirens of the capital.

A winger in the French championship

To face this upheaval, the MHB is not remaining inactive. Rogerio Moraes, Zvonimir Srna, Agustin Casado and Léo Plantin have already confirmed their arrival in Hérault. Other announcements will follow, particularly on the right winger position, which is currently bare.

Julien Deljarry and coach Erick Mathé have apparently already found the rare bird in the French championship. Barring any setbacks during the medical, the deal (a very good pick) is in the bag.

After saying goodbye to Patrice Canayer last June, Montpellier is undoubtedly preparing to turn a new page in its history by renewing its locker room by almost half next summer. “To move forward, you sometimes have to shake up the couscoussier”, they say in the MHB entourage. No doubt, it's going to shake things up!
