A 20-year-old British man's life was turned upside down when he found out he had won the lottery for 7.5 million pounds sterling, or 8.8 million euros. A crazy sum that didn't disrupt his daily life as a student in the plumbing field.

James Clarkson is 20 years old. Originally from Carlisle, in the north of England, he supports the Manchester City football club and is a budding plumber. So far, nothing unusual. Except that this young British man won the national lottery the sum equivalent to 8.8 million euros. And yet, he hasn’t changed his lifestyle since then, and keeps his feet on the ground.

Back to work the day after winning

The young man, despite his new millionaire status, decided to continue his internship in plumbing. “I was out in the cold fixing blocked pipes the day after I found out I had won”, he told the British daily newspaper of Daily Mirror.

He who wants to become a heating engineer, his decision is based on his father’s advice. “I need to have a purpose in life, and in any case, Dad wouldn’t let me not work. He says that there are many millionaires who still work and that you need a reason to get up every day.”

Holidays in Cape Verde, paying off the mortgage on the family home…

Although his fortune has made him a new man, James Clarkson remains humble. The 20-year-old British man wants to help his extended family, in particular by paying off the mortgage on his parents’ home.

However, he admits to treating himself to a few pleasures, such as luxury clothing, an all-inclusive trip to Cape Verde. And soon, a season ticket to the Etihad Stadium to watch his favourite team play, not to mention buying the car of his dreams. All this is made possible by the following combination: 16, 19, 22, 24, 27 and 35.
