“Your man will have a headache tomorrow”: in Nîmes, Clément is on trial for beating his mother's violent partner to death

The Gard Assize Court is trying this Wednesday, January 28 and for three days Clément Collavoli, accused of the murder of Francis Gouze, killed on November 17, 2017 in Rodilhan, near Nîmes. Françoise Bourdanove, the mother of the accused, is accused of failure to assist a person in danger.

The Gard Assize Court is trying this Wednesday and for three days Clément Collavoli, 30, accused of having killed his mother's partner on November 17, 2017 in Rodilhan, who was violent with her. Francis Gouze, the victim, was found with a smashed skull in the apartment he occupied with Françoise Bourdanove, his partner for about a year. The latter had taken refuge on the ground floor of the building, where her own mother and her son Clément lived. On the evening of the crime, she had alerted the police, reporting that she had been slapped by her partner.

“He never intended to kill”

When he returned, her son understood that there had been an incident, his mother having already been hit by Francis Gouze. He had taken a baseball bat and came back down a few minutes later, telling her: “Your guy will have a headache tomorrow.”
“He knows he took a man's life, but he never intended to kill” explains Hugo Ferri, his lawyer. “We are dealing with the feelings of a son who would have done anything to protect his mother.”

Accused of murder, Clément Collavoli, with a clean criminal record and who has always worked, faces 30 years of criminal imprisonment.

The latter is being tried for failure to assist a person in danger. “At no time did she think that the victim was in this state,” notes Marie-Gaëlle Bruyère, who is defending her. “She is very concerned about the penalty she is facing, having a very sick second son who is totally dependent.”

She has had no further contact with Clément, who was released after a year of pretrial detention and who has since obtained his adoption by his stepmother. Françoise Bordenave had never filed a complaint for the violence she accuses her partner of: “He was not the domestic tyrant she describes,” says Me Rémy Nougier, civil party.

The trial will be filmed for the program Sept à huit on TF1, with the agreement of the Chancellery. I subscribe to read the rest
