10 billion robots in 2040: Elon Musk’s incredible prediction

© Tesla < p>According to Elon Musk, by 2040, there will be more humanoid robots on Earth than humans. The Tesla boss shared this prediction while speaking via videoconference at a conference in Saudi Arabia. “Every country will have one or more AIs, and there will be many robots, many more robots than humans”, he also said. Elon Musk estimates that there could be at least 10 billion robots, with prices ranging from $20,000 to $25,000.

Tesla is already anticipating this demand

As a reminder, while Tesla is best known for its electric vehicles, the company is also developing humanoid robots called Optimus. According to Tesla's website, Optimus is designed to perform dangerous, boring, or repetitive tasks in place of humans. And Elon Musk believes that it is the Optimus robots that could boost Tesla's growth in the long term. In fact, Tesla's market capitalization could exceed $25 trillion ($25 trillion) thanks to robots. Musk also believes that Optimus will have more impact in the long term than Tesla's robotaxis, which would only reach a market capitalization of 5 billion dollars.

A market of 38 billion dollars in 2035 ?

The main interest of humanoids is that they are not programmed for a single use. Thus, if this type of robot can work in factories, it could also, later, work as a domestic robot. Moreover, Musk has already indicated, previously, that we could even ask these robots to look after our children. But as usual, Musk's statements, which are sometimes a little too optimistic, should always be considered with caution.

In any case, the market for humanoid robots could be huge within ten years. For example, Jacqueline Du, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, predicted that this market could be worth $38 billion in 2035.
