This Parisian station is to be avoided at all costs this fall and during the Paralympic Games!

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have begun, and residents of the Paris region are worried about the impact on the number of people using the metro, RER and Transilien stations in the capital. According to Ile-de-France Mobilitás (IDFM), up to 500,000 spectators are expected each day between August 28 and September 8, 2024, during the Paralympic Games. IDMF anticipates an average of one round trip per spectator to a Paralympic venue, representing one million more trips per day on public transport than usual, already loaded during the back-to-school period.

Among the Parisian train stations, three are located on the banks of the Seine and close to the events. And one train station will be particularly busy, to the point of being considered the most impacted throughout the duration of the Paris Paralympic Games. On the interactive map of the government information site, “Anticipate the Games”, which allows you to anticipate road and public transport travel,This Parisian station is marked “in red” and should therefore be avoided at all costs. This is the Gare du Nord station, served by metro lines 2, 4 and 5, as well as the RER B and D and the Transiliens H and K.

During the Games Paralympics, a waiting time of more than 15 minutes is thus estimated by IDFM to access the RER B and RER D platforms for a good part of the day, i.e. between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. then between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and, finally, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. On the platforms of metro lines 4 and 5, a long wait is expected. also plan between 7pm and 10pm in the evening. On the other hand, Transilien users can rest assured: there will be no waiting on the platforms of lines H and K.

In order to guarantee smoother travel in Paris, the transport application designed by IDFM, “Transport Public Paris 2024”, offers real-time traffic information and alternative routes in the event of an incident. While the transport offer has been increased by 15%, “point-to-point” shuttle buses have been set up for spectators. Despite all these good intentions, remember that this Parisian station is to be avoided at all costs during the Paralympics. You have been warned!
