It was time for Jeanfi Janssens to confide. Guest on the show “Ça commence aujourd'hui” on Friday, January 24, 2025, the comedian came to talk about mental health on the France 2 set. In the company of the host Faustine Bollaert, he notably returned to a dark period he went through: his fight against his eating disorders. It was during adolescence that it all began for him, when he felt different for several reasons. “I felt my coming out, I knew I was different (…) plus I was in boarding school with the sisters and I didn't find my place in the groups and then physically I didn't like myself.” he began.
According to him, all these factors led him to “do anything”. “I had anorexia, bulimia… I told myself that my body was not the standard and I started not eating anymore.” added Jeanfi Janssens. In front of his parents, at the time, the comedian forced himself to put on a good face, but behind it, it was something else. “I ate knowing that I would make myself throw up two days later or that I would not eat at school and that I would throw everything in the trash.” he specified.

It was potomania.” the former steward said. This habit of drinking large quantities of liquid is very dangerous because over time, the body no longer absorbs anything and the cells, which no longer understand, release salt that can create edema in the brain. “I had been told that water would help me lose weight, I had lost twenty kilos in two months. Everyone thought I had a disease.” he specified.
Because of his disorders, Jeanfi Janssens kept after-effects: he had nosebleeds, had anemia and worse “shot” his growth. “I realized that I had a problem and that I was in danger. That was by dint of fainting or falling that the firefighters came to get me.” he said. Hospitalized and followed up in the process, Jeanfi Janssens gradually got out of it.
At the end of his interview, Jeanfi Janssens confirmed that it was the help of a psychologist that helped him get out of his eating disorders. “It's so much easier to get it off your chest &a third person. She gave me real keys. We mustn't hesitate to talk about it, it helps to free up speech.” he concluded.
