The union raised awareness among residents and suggested getting people to sign a petition in support of the employees of the former Cora. Midi Libre – LUCAS MASSOT
This Friday, December 6 at 10:15 a.m., the CGT union is organizing an awareness-raising operation on the working conditions of employees, in front of the Carrefour d'Alès, formerly Cora.
“We are told that everything is fine“, this Friday, December 6 in front of the Carrefour, formerly Cora in Alès. These words, spoken by Coralie Bertrand, a member of the CGT union, refer to the recent acquisition of the hypermarket for the benefit of the Carrefour brand. The union denounces in particular the difference in salaries between Carrefour employees and those of the former Belgian brand.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000The cause is the creation of a subsidiary Cora SAS (Carrefour subsidiary) and not “the real integration of employees into the group“. “What is not right is that we are a subsidiary“, explains Julien Aquilina, former central union delegate CGT and Carrefour employee. This status, he denounces, leads to a difference in the salary scales: “On average, 200 euros less per month for an ex-Cora employee. Holiday bonuses, profit-sharing that will not be paid out, while at the same level, a Carrefour employee will be better paid and will receive these bonuses“, explains Philippe Milesi, CGT-Cora/Carrefour union delegate.
Contacted, the Carrefour brand explained for its part that “since Cora was acquired by Carrefour, all store jobs have been maintained and the activities carried out remain unchanged“. The company says it is “determined to support each employee in this transition“, and “to create a work environment where everyone is proud to contribute to this new group.“
The new owner of the former Cora also assures that “the social dialogue initiated since July with the representative bodies has proven constructive, and we intend to continue in this dynamic.“
