23:45 – A cruel finale, the summary

The Olympic final lived up to all its promises! On one side, our Blues who wanted to create the feat at home and on the other, Team USA accompanied by its NBA superstars. From the start of the match, the tone was set and the blows were returned on both sides. If the Blues lacked success behind the three-point line, they were always punished by their opponents in fast play. If it wasn't Booker, it was Holiday or Curry to punish with three points. At the end of the first quarter, the French were racing behind (15-20) before having a strong moment in the second quarter. If they even led on the score, Vincent Collet's men finally cracked at the end of the first period (41-49).

After the break, the French always had some brilliant moves to get back into the game without ever turning the tide and really making the American armada doubt. In the last quarter, Stephen Curry came out of his box at the Accor Arena! In the last three minutes, the point guard took control of the game to score four three-pointers and seal the American victory (87-98). While Victor Wembanyama and Guerschon Yabusele guided France in attack, there is no doubt that they will be there in 2028 to take their revenge, accompanied by the new hopes of French basketball. Tonight, France wins silver but this trinket will start a cycle and the Blues have sent a message to world basketball tonight.

23:40 – See you in 2028

After the final, Victor Wembanyama was in tears, comforted by his teammates.

23:35 – A Curry on fire

Relive the last shot at three stratospheric points from Stephen Curry:

23:30 – Collet: "A great match"

Speaking to France 2, Vincent Collet spoke about the final: “It was their incredible talent that made the difference. We played a great match, marred by a few small errors, throws, ball losses. If we make 3/4 throws instead of 0/4 and we come back to equality, it's not the same. The change of line-up is an element that changed the team. The arrival in the real competition also changed. We came up against Canada, a very strong team and they were surprised at our start to the quarterfinals. We accepted their pace during their match. It's a final against the Americans and each player has his “emotions”.
