The 2024 world championships will be held in Zurich, Switzerland , and feature race profiles that are sure to attract the best runners on the planet.
After the 2023 World Championships bringing together all cycling disciplines for the first time (road, track, mountain bike, BMX, etc.), the 2024 season will see a return to a more classic format, with only road events. Zurich follows Glasgow, and Switzerland will thus host the Road World Championships for the eleventh time. As has often been the case in recent years, the course will be hilly, ideal for punchers but suitable for different rider profiles.
There will be many candidates, a few weeks after the Paris Olympic Games, to succeed Mathieu van der Poel in the road race, and Remco Evenepoel in the time trial. The French team will have to do better, after disappointing results and no individual medals on the road last year. The record had nevertheless been saved by a silver medal in the mixed relay. Like last year, paracycling will also be an integral part of these world championships.
