Invited this Saturday evening on the program "C l’hebdo", on France 5, the former socialist Prime Minister believes that the absence of a budget for France would mean that "the administration would not be run".

The current situation in France, a country without a budget voted for the year 2025, is considered serious enough for Lionel Jospin, 87 years old, to come out of his silence and political discretion. In the program “C l’hebdo”, broadcast this Saturday evening on France 5 and an excerpt of which was published on social networks, calls on the socialists not to vote for the censure of the government.

“I call on the socialists, all the forces of the left, not to vote for censure. […] Voting for censure today would not be responsible”, he declares. The socialist deputies have been engaged for several weeks in long negotiations with the government led by François Bayrou to avoid the vote on the motion of censure tabled by the environmentalists, which should be examined on February 5.

“It would be an unmanaged country”

Lionel Jospin warns his socialist comrades who might be tempted to vote for censure. “It would happen that the administration would no longer be managed”, he recalls. “In the dramatic economic situation that is ours, there would be no budget, no social security budget. Who could face the tragedy of Mayotte? ? Who would seek reconciliation in New Caledonia? ? It would be an ungoverned country, limited to its civil society…”.
