De nouveaux quais pour faciliter l'accès sur les quais de la gare. D.R.
The first phase of work to modernise and make the platforms at Nîmes centre station more accessible has just been completed.
Gares & Connexions has carried out the work required to make the platforms next to tracks A, B and C at Nîmes centre station more accessible and modernise them. This modernisation allows all passengers, including people with reduced mobility (PRM), to access the train independently on these tracks.
This is a new concrete step in the implementation of the National Accessibility Master Plan (SDNA). This first phase of €4.2 million worth of work was funded equally by the State and SNCF Gares & Connexions.

The platforms now meet accessibility standards for people with disabilities, parents with children in pushchairs and with luggage, elderly people, etc.
The main operations carried out as part of this first phase are as follows: raising the ends of the platforms on tracks A, B and C to 55 cm to align them with the train thresholds. Installing new platform furniture; resurfacing platforms 1 and 2, including laying new tactile tiles to alert passengers; renewing and upgrading the lighting using LEDs; modernising the sound system on the platforms; installing sound beacons for the visually impaired or blind. Schedule and financing of the work undertaken 4 months of work were required to complete this upgrade.
The worksite was mainly carried out at night and by platform section, thus allowing the station to maintain all of its rail and pedestrian services. €4.242 million was invested in this first phase of work, half of which is financed by the State as part of the National Accessibility Master Plan. The other half is covered by SNCF Gares & Connexions, which is also the project owner.
A second phase of work is planned for September 2025, to make the platform serving track E accessible. Overall, €7.7 million will be invested to allow all passengers, including people with reduced mobility (PRM), to access trains more easily at Nîmes Centre station.
