7 hours of unpaid overtime per year: this option “is not at this stage the official position of the government”

Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Solidarity, is exploring avenues, such as working 7 hours of overtime per year, unpaid. But this does not seem to be considered by the government.

The idea of seven additional hours of unpaid work per year to finance social protection, put forward by Minister of Solidarity Catherine Vautrin, “is not at this stage the official position of the government”, declared spokesperson Sophie Primas on Wednesday.

She referred to the “parliamentary discussions” currently underway on the budgets for 2025. Similarly, the idea of making certain retirees contribute, raised by Minister of Labor Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, is not “not the government's position at this stage”, Sophie Primas explained to the press after the Council of Ministers.
