In July, some devices will no longer be compatible with the Netflix application. In a publication, Sony warned its users, announcing that the Netflix application will no longer be supported on certain 2014 BRAVIA televisions. The models affected by this end of support by Netflix are as follows:

  • KDL-60W610B
  • KDL-60W630B
  • KDL-55X830B
  • KDL-65X830B
  • KDL-70X830B

  • XBR-55X900B
  • XBR-65X900B
  • XBR- 79X900B
  • XBR-65X950B
  • XBR-85X950B

And that's not all, since Netflix, for its part, also announces that its application will no longer be available for two generations of Apple TV, from July 31. These are the second generation Apple TV and the third generation Apple TV.

Other Sony products suffered the same fate at the beginning of the year

At the end of February, other Sony products had suffered the same fate. Citing technical limitations, the brand announced the end of support for the Netflix application for certain televisions and Blu-ray players from 2012 and 2013. The list of affected models is on the Sony website.< /p>

As apps evolve, they become incompatible with certain older products. And if, for example, we are used to versions of iOS or Android losing support for essential applications like WhatsApp, this can also happen for televisions and boxes. The fact that televisions released in 2014, or the Apple TV of 2012, lose support for the Netflix application is therefore quite understandable.

But the good news is that it is still possible to watch Netflix films and series on an old TV that no longer supports the app, as long as it has an input HDMI. On its site, Sony, for example, advises its customers to use a Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV streaming dongle to continue using Netflix on a TV that can no longer run the application on its system operating system. Otherwise, you can also simply connect a laptop.

  • Au From July, Netflix will no longer be supported on some 2014 Sony TVs
  • In addition, at the end of July, the Netflix app will no longer be available on second- and third-generation Apple TVs
  • For televisions, it will still be possible to use Netflix, provided that you connect a dongle such as Google's Chromecast to the HDMI port
