At 17, Thibault de Percin is an inventor who has been promised a bright future. His latest creation: the moltimeter. This final year student designed an ingenious device capable of directly measuring the moles in an atom to considerably simplify the work of chemists.
The idea for this invention was born from a frustration common to many chemistry students: the repetitive and tedious conversion of moles to grams. Tired of these calculations and after noticing that no device of this type existed, Thibault therefore took the initiative of creating a tool that would automate this process.
Incredible creativity
The moltimeter represents the culmination of a passion for innovation that Thibault has cultivated since a young age. From the age of 5, he already demonstrated remarkable creativity by building complex machines from materials such as paper and cardboard. This early inventiveness was nourished by his diligent reading of the magazine Sciences et Vie Junior, which introduced him to the competition “Innovez!& ;#8221;.

Finalist of the Innovez! competition
The talent of young Thibault was quickly recognized by experts since he was selected among the 12 finalists of the “Innovez!” competition. This recognition gave him the opportunity to present his moltimeter last March at the Musée des Arts et Métiers during an event which also celebrated the 35th anniversary of Science& ;Junior Life. Although Thibault did not win the Holy Grail, this journey promises him a bright future.
As for this original scale, also called “moltimeter”, it stands out for its ability to automatically convert moles into grams, a task that is time-consuming for chemists – although it is also very basic. This invention can simplify laboratory practices and save time for researchers and students.
From a simple idea, he managed to create an effective solution!
