Combining events and respect for the environment is Tcheen's credo. The Bordeaux-based start-up is now thinking big and intends to strengthen its growth throughout France.

Tcheen helps its clients organize an eco-responsible event

Weddings, seminars… Without us realizing it, an event can have a heavy impact on the environment: “Waste that is generally not sorted, packaging thrown away, single-use dishes, often useless goodies, structures, decorations bought for the occasion and then put in a cupboard…”, lists Tcheen.

Its two co-founders, Carole Bichot and Julie Courrèges, previously worked in the aeronautics sector. “Environmental issues and the desire to be an entrepreneur were already well-established in us. It didn't take us long to germinate the concept of Tcheen, at the beginning of 2020 », explains Carole Bichot at Arcachons Ecotours.

With the help of the La Ruche incubator in Bordeaux, the two women are developing their strategy. The platform defines itself as a marketplace that supports its clients in the autonomous organization of their eco-responsible event. Users can specify their needs (date, type of service providers, etc.) and receive quotes from several suppliers in a few hours. Food trucks, culinary activities, etc. It lists accommodation locations and providers of food, drinks, and environmentally friendly furniture.

To ensure this, Tcheen has them fill out an environmental questionnaire covering, among other things, “ recycling, respect for biodiversity, zero plastic, the use of seasonal products », explains Carole Bichot. They then receive an eco-score that is displayed on the Tcheen website, and can guide its clients in their choices. The firm also offers specific support for large-scale events.

A fundraiser on the program

Although individuals are welcome, Tcheen's clients are mainly companies, some of which must comply with numerous CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards.

Because an eco-responsible event for 100 people saves 1.3 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, the company says. This figure, obtained using the event simulator designed by Ademe, corresponds to “the ecological footprint of a round trip between Paris and New York by plane“.

Success is there. Tcheen is targeting a turnover of 1 million euros in 2024, after seeing its revenues double last year to reach 560,000 euros. The start-up is mainly remunerated through service fees applied to reservations made by users.

It also wishes to strengthen itself through fundraising of 400& ;nbsp;000 euros. This funding will allow it not only to recruit, but also to integrate a carbon calculator into its platform.
