Woman and child stabbed in central London

The attack occurred in the early afternoon.

Panic in London this early afternoon. A woman and a little girl were stabbed this Monday in the heart of the British capital. The attack took place in Leicester Square, not far from the banks of the Thames and Buckingham Palace, early in the afternoon, as announced by Westminster police on social networks. At 12:36 French time (11:36 London time), paramedics were called to rescue two people after a knife attack, reports the BBC.

According to initial information provided by the authorities, the victims are a 34-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl. They were both taken to hospital. No further information on their condition has yet been released. At the same time, the assailant was arrested by the police and taken into custody.

The location is particularly popular movie tourists since four large cinemas are installed there and it is in one of them that the previews of the major films are regularly screened.
