Two Mirage crash near Nancy, what we know about the accident

An accident between two military planes took place this Wednesday in Meurthe-et-Moselle

This Wednesday, August 14, 2024, an air accident involving two Mirage occurred in the morning. L'Est républicain revealed that the collision between the two Air Force planes occurred in the Autreville sector, between the Vosges and Meurthe-et-Moselle, at 40 minutes southwest of Nancy.

The aircraft reportedly came from surrounding air bases and had a total of three people on board. Search operations were launched to find the pilots. They were reportedly able to eject. 33 firefighters were also mobilized.

One of the pilots was eventually spotted and had, in fact, managed to eject from the aircraft. Although he was injured, he remained conscious. The search continues to find the other members on board. According to AFP, an instructor and a student pilot were on the second plane and are still missing. The pilots are all French nationals.

“There is debris everywhere”, emergency services say according to L'Est Républicain. On site, a security perimeter has been set up as reported by the prefecture.
