20:30 – The refereeing corps

For this opening match of the Ligue 1 season between Le Havre and PSG, Willy Delajod will be the central referee. He will be assisted by by Philippe Jeanne and Erwan Finjean on the sidelines, while Hakim Ben El Hadj will be the fourth referee. Hamid Guenaoui will be the video assistant referee.

At Le Havre, Didier Digard had a complicated off-season with only three arrivals, whose starting positions are not necessarily hoped for: “This transfer window can offer different possibilities. […] I'm not expecting reinforcements. I'm part of a club whose situation I know, I'm not going to ask for things that are not possible. I know that if the club can do something, it will do it, but if we have to move forward like this, we will move forward like this. The positive point is that everyone is united, we are all going in the same direction,” he declared at a press conference.

After the departure of Luka Elsner to Reims, the Le Havre management took a gamble on Digard, who is making his return to the club where he started out. Trained Le Havre, whose colours he defended until 2007, becoming its youngest captain (20 years old), he then left for Paris Saint-Germain, a club he will be playing again this evening on the first day of Ligue 1.

If PSG's summer was very disrupted by the departure of Kylian Mbappé, the Parisian management had to deal with the Euro and the 2024 Olympic Games to advance the negotiations of the summer transfer window. Asked at a press conference about the departure of his star player, the Spanish coach highlighted the collective contribution of his attackers to make up for Mbappé's lack of goals: “The one I can find, if someone scores 40 goals, we won't stop them. But from experience, I know that it's better for four players to score 12 goals. It's an exciting challenge, a challenge to show that it's a team sport. We want to be a major player. We can do it, that's our goal. Kylian, I loved him, he's an exceptional player and man. I wish him the best. Just like his brother Ethan. And that Madrid loses against us.”

For his first eleven of the season, Luis Enrique has several surprises in store. Ecuadorian recruit Pacho will play alongside Lucas Beraldo. Kang-In Lee is the starter in midfield while the very young Ibrahim Mbaye is making his first start in the Parisian jersey: Donnarumma (L) – Hakimi, Pacho, Beraldo, Zague – Vitinha, Lee, Zaïre-Emery – Asensio, Mbaye, Ramos.

19:50 – Life without Mbappé

For the first time in seven years, PSG will start a season without Kylian Mbappé. &During the off-season, Paris Saint-Germain lost its star player for several seasons. As a free agent for Real Madrid, the French striker is forcing Luis Enrique to review his plans and his offensive animation.
