Typically, Google releases new versions of Android at the same time as its new Pixel smartphones. But this year, the Mountain View firm made an exception. Indeed, while the Pixel 9 smartphones were unveiled during this month of August, Android 15 is not yet available. And these new smartphones run on Android 14, the version released in 2023. As for Android 15, it has not yet come out of its beta testing phase and, unfortunately, we will have to wait until October for a stable version. In any case, this is what is indicated by an article recently published by the developer Mishaal Rahman on the Android Authority website.
According to this article, the information has just been revealed by Google, on the beta version of Android 15. In essence, the Mountain View firm has updated a note concerning this beta version by indicating that the stable version or the final version will not be available until October. In any case, it should be remembered that last year, Android 14 was released on October 4. Google is therefore not behind on the development of Android 15. However, some expected this new version of the OS to be delivered with the new Pixel smartphones.
Android 15: compatible models
When Android 15 is available in stable version, it will be available on the following Pixel smartphones:

- Google Pixel 6a

- Google Pixel Fold

- Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Of course, Android 15 will also arrive on models from other brands. But the update schedule for these devices does not depend on Google, but on each manufacturer. As a reminder, on the Android ecosystem, brands must adapt operating system code to their products. Brands must also work with component suppliers to deploy these Android updates.
For Samsung devices, which is the world leader in smartphones, some rumors are already circulating about One UI 7, the version of its operating system that will be based on Android 15. One UI 7 is expected to be released after the official version of Android 15 developed by Google. And normally, this should first arrive on Samsung's most recent models: the Galaxy S24 series models and the foldable smartphones released in 2024.
