“Euromillions : draw, time, result, statistics… How to play ?”
EUROMILLIONS – Draw and result of the Euromillions of the day, results of the Euromillions draws pr ;écédents, deadline and how to play, statistics, record… Everything you need to know about the European lottery of the Française des Jeux.
Euromillions is a lottery of the Française des Jeux (FDJ) offered in twelve European countries every Tuesday and Friday for a dozen years: France, Monaco, Andorra, Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein. Euromillions claims the position of “largest lottery game in the world”, with 20 million regular players.
Since September 2016, the starting jackpot has been €17 million. Prize pools can reach an average of €64 million every 5 draws and the maximum win is €230 million. This ceiling has four draws to be won, before being shared among the winners of the next rank. The FDJ has introduced a “My Million”, “Millionaire Rains” (or “European Millionaire Maker” in its English version). These are special jackpots subject to a random draw. A code is associated with each ticket, giving the player the chance to win a prize in addition to the one already offered by the game. The FDJ puts 25 to 50 winning grids on the table during several draws during the year. In addition, super jackpots, distributed 2 to 3 times a year, are offered with winnings of at least 130 million euros.
What are the results of the latest Euromillions draws ?
On what date and at what time does the Euromillions draw take place ?
There are two Euromillions draws per week carried out by the Française des Jeux: one on Tuesday evening and one on Friday evening, carried out under the supervision of a bailiff and behind closed doors, between 9 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
What is the deadline for playing the Euromillions ?
The deadline for selling tickets for the European lottery is set at 8:15 p.m. on the evening of the draw. After this, the grid will be counted for the next draw. If you have played a grid (see “how to play below”), it is valid for a single draw.
What is the Euromillions jackpot ceiling ?
The Euromillions jackpot has a ceiling set at 230 million euros. This is the maximum amount that can be won at Euromillions. But be careful, not all draws offer this amount – far from it! To reach this ceiling, the jackpot must not be won during several draws in a row. In this case, the jackpot increases mechanically with each draw before reaching this ceiling. What happens next ? If no winner has been found the 5 correct numbers and the 2 required stars, the sum of 230 million is put back into play. And so on until reaching 5 consecutive draws without a winner… Once this milestone is reached, the big jackpot can be won at the lower winning levels, that is to say for one or more players having reached the lower level of the winning pyramid, for example 5 correct numbers but only 1 star. Once won, the record jackpot is replaced by another jackpot with a much lower amount.
How to play Euromillions ?
5 numbers and 2 stars: this is what you must check to hope to win during the Euromillions draws. During the draws, 5 balls are in fact drawn at random from 50 numbers; then 2 balls, corresponding to the stars, are drawn at random from the 12 in the machine (11 before the new formula).
Playing at a tobacconist's
The FDJ has 23,000 “drawing” points of sale in France. When you go to a tobacconist, pick up a game slip. You then have several grids in front of you. You can fill in one or more. The minimum bet is 2.5 euros for 1 single Euro Millions grid + 1 My Million code per draw.
In the grid, you must first check (in the form of a cross) 5 numbers among the boxes numbered from 1 to 50. Then you have to tick 2 stars among the 12 stars numbered from 1 to 12 (11 before the new formula). This is the easiest way to play the Euromillions.
However, if you wish, you can make the game more complex and check more than 5 numbers or more than 2 stars. For example, you can choose 7 numbers, hoping that among these 7 numbers are the 5 “winners”. By doing this, you potentially increase your chances of winning… But in this case, your grid will cost you more than 2.50 euros. Once your grid is filled, give it to the tobacconist who will register your game and give you a game receipt in exchange. This is the document that you will use to: claim your winnings if you win.
Using the Flash system: If you do not want to choose specific numbers, you can make a “flash” grid. In this case, you simply tell the tobacconist that you want a “flash” Euromillions and the computer will choose random numbers and stars for you. The cost of the grid is the same.
Playing on the Internet
You can also play on the official website of the Française des Jeux directly. But to do this, you will need to create an account, fill out a form with your personal details and your bank details, provide a photocopy of your identity card (or your driving license or passport), as well as a RIB to your name (for payments in the event of a win). You will have to wait for the FDJ to validate before you can play. But then, the principle is the same as in a “physical” point of sale: you virtually check 5 numbers and 2 stars; 2.50 euros are debited from your account and you impatiently await the draw…

My Million and Star + option
My Million, a specific feature of each Euromillions draw for France (French Republic and Principality of Monaco), is maintained as is. It guarantees a gain of 1 million euros in France at each draw. My Million has been added to the game in February 2014, to attract players frightened by the very low probability of winning the jackpot (of the order of one chance in 116 million and then 1 in 139 million – read below). There is therefore another way to win money with the Euromillions. And this, without having the winning combination of the ball draw!
The principle of My Million is simple: for each validated Euromillions grid, a code is generated (with two letters and seven numbers). Then a draw is made between all the generated codes. In practice, the draw is made among all those who have purchased and validated a Euromillions grid. The lucky owner of the right combination becomes a millionaire by pocketing a million euros. Beyond 10 codes assigned, a range of consecutive codes will be assigned to you. All the codes in this range will be participating. See the full explanation of the My Million Code Allocation Mode on the FDJ website
Etoile+ is an option added to the game only in France. Euromillions players have the opportunity to win a sum of money as soon as a good star is checked in the grid. To bet on your “good star”, however, you have to pay 1 euro more for each grid. The cost of the grid is therefore increased to 3.50 euros.
How many numbers do you need to win the Euromillions ?
To win the evening Euromillions draw, the minimum is to have found the two stars or two correct numbers. To win the jackpot and become very rich, however, you must have ticked the 5 numbers and the 2 stars drawn at random during the draw. Your winnings will then depend on the numbers drawn, but also on the number of people who had the same winning combination as you. The winners of rank 1 share the jackpot amount.
How to check the Euromillions results ?
To allow its players to consult the results of the Euromillions draw every evening, the FDJ has set up a partnership with TF1. The Euromillions results are revealed on air every Tuesday and Friday evening between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. It is also possible to obtain the list of numbers drawn on the website www.fdj.fr where the My Million codes are published around 8:35 p.m. and the evening Euromillions draw from 11:30 p.m. The Euro Millions – My Million mobile application also allows you to be informed of the result of each draw. It is also possible to consult the verdict by telephone at 3256 (0.35 euro incl. tax/min) or by SMS by sending “EUML” to 61113 (0.35 euro incl. tax per sending excluding the cost of an SMS). Each evening of the draw, Linternaute.com broadcasts the result of the lottery from 9:30 p.m. All Euromillions results are published in the Official Journal.
Claim your winnings
If you have played at a tobacconist, you just need to go to an FDJ point of sale within 60 days to withdraw your winnings. They will be paid immediately upon presentation of the receipt. The FDJ informs that these are exempt from income tax. Beyond 300 euros, however, you will have to go to a La Française des Jeux payment center. After 3,000 euros, you will need to show proof of identity.
If you have played online, payment is made by crediting the FDJ account up to 3,000 euros. Beyond that, an automatic transfer is made to the player's bank account, but once again, the presentation of identity documents will be required. For more details on payment terms, the FDJ refers to the “Legal notices and regulations” section. from his site.
How much does Euromillions bring in to the FDJ ?
While players have very little chance of winning the rank 1 prize, Française des Jeux is a winner every time. The payout rate to players is only 50 to 60%. In other words, only half of the sums spent by players are put into play. When a person buys a grid for 2 euros, 1 euro is kept by Française des Jeux and the other euro will then be put into play for a future draw. In 2015, a year of many jackpots, the FDJ recorded a record turnover of 13.7 billion euros, with a 5.4% increase in sales. The company had then paid out 9 billion euros, or 66% of stakes, to players. A performance linked to the growth of the Loto and scratch cards. The Euromillions, for its part, recorded a slight decrease. The total turnover of Euromillions recorded in 2013 was 6.6 billion euros. In ten years, it has risen to almost 50 billion euros.
Statistics: what are the chances of winning the Euromillions ?
In the Euromillions, you have a 1 in 139 million chance of winning the jackpot. While the chances of becoming very rich are quite low, the average amount of the jackpot is dizzying: with 5 correct numbers and the 2 correct star numbers, it is around 49,300,000 euros. With one less star number, the average winnings collapse to €470,300, with a 1 in 6.9 million chance of winning… The player who finds 5 correct numbers, but no star number wins €80,000 on average, but only has a 1 in 3 million chance of winning. With only 4 correct numbers and 2 star numbers, the average winnings are only 4,800 euros (one chance in 621,000). You need at least 2 correct numbers or one correct number (one chance in 22) and two star numbers (one chance in 50) to get a win, but this does not exceed a few euros on average.
Another statistic, undoubtedly more interesting for players, the FDJ offers to consult the most and least drawn numbers in the game on its site. Many other specialized sites calculate statistics according to the balls that fell or not during the last draws.
