And this week, Oura is unveiling a new version of its connected ring, the Oura Ring 4, which is an improved version of the previous model. With this new ring, Oura is focusing mainly on precision, and this better precision is achieved mainly thanks to the software. Since each person has different finger shapes, and the ring can move when worn, Oura has developed an algorithm that doubles the number of “signal paths” for the sensors, so that the data is collected optimally.

During physical activity, the ring can also provide information such as the activity score or heart rate, and it is capable of automatically detecting more than 40 types of activities, including basketball. Oura sells this new connected watch at a starting price of 399 euros. However, it should be noted that Oura has a somewhat unusual economic model. You will also have to pay a monthly subscription of 5.99 euros to have complete health data on its mobile application. On a help page, Oura explains that without a subscription “your ring and the Oura app will continue to work, but you won’t get all the benefits and detailed information and data that active members get.”
