When will Apple Intelligence be available ? The date may have just been leaked

While it is the main new Apple feature in 2024, Apple Intelligence is not currently available on compatible iPhones. Indeed, the firm's new AI features are still being tested in beta, and will not be available to the general public until after the deployment of the iOS 18.1 update. Apple has not yet indicated when it will deploy this update. However, the release date may have just leaked.

Indeed, in his latest newsletter, Mark Gurman, a journalist at Bloomberg, indicates that Apple plans to deploy the iOS 18.1 update starting October 28. However, it is important to remember that for the moment Apple Intelligence is only available in American English. The French version of Apple's AI will arrive later. In addition, it should be noted that Apple is currently blocking the deployment of its new AI features in the European Union, on iPhones and iPads.

Indeed, the firm must first comply with additional rules (that of the Digital Markets Act) before offering Apple Intelligence in the European Union. However, macOS is not affected by these rules.

Apple Intelligence: a staggered launch

Furthermore, it is also important to note that on compatible devices and in the countries where it will be deployed, Apple Intelligence will not integrate all the features presented by Apple when this new feature was made official. Mark Gurman explains that the iOS 18.1 update should include features such as AI-generated notification summaries. On the other hand, the integration of ChatGPT would only arrive with the iOS 18.2 update. And most of the improvements concerning Siri would only be available on the iOS 18.4 update, which is expected for March.

In any case, the arrival of the first Apple Intelligence features could have an impact on iPhone sales, while some analysts have mentioned lower demand than expected. As a reminder, the only older models compatible with Apple Intelligence are the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, on the other hand, don’t have enough RAM to run Apple’s AI features.
