Kylian Mbappé: rape accusations in his hotel, what we know

Kylian Mbappé, who has been forced to withdraw from the French national team due to physical problems, was spotted in a nightclub in Sweden on Thursday, October 10. A rape investigation has been opened, for events that allegedly occurred in the small group's hotel.

Kylian Mbappé's escapade to Sweden last Thursday could leave its mark. The Frenchman made a brief stopover in the Scandinavian country to enjoy his free time while he was out of the French team's training camp. Enough to provoke the ire of Les Bleus supporters, already annoyed to have seen him play with Real Madrid a few days earlier. Here it is now that a rape investigation has been opened into the hotel where the attacker was staying with his friends after their nightclubbing trip. The hotel in question was raided by Swedish police after a complaint was filed. The authorities have not indicated if the captain of the Blues was concerned, according to the Swedish daily Aftonbladet, or if he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

For the moment, there is no information at this stage on the identity of the suspect(s). The prosecutor in charge of the investigation did not wish to make any comment. After their evening, Kylian Mbappé and his relatives had left Stockholm on Friday afternoon, heading for Ajaccio. The investigation has been triggered only on Saturday, after a report was collected by the police from the alleged victim.

While Mbappé posted a message of support to his teammates before the France Israel kick-off on Thursday, October 10 (“Good game”), the Frenchman was therefore in Sweden and not resting or getting treatment. The newspaper Aftonbladet published several photos of Mbappé, masked and wearing a cap, in the streets of the Swedish capital, accompanied by close friends, including Nordi Mukiele, his former PSG partner. Mbappé reportedly went to the restaurant “Chez Jolie”, a luxury establishment specializing in French cuisine. Then the small group was photographed boarding a black van to head to the V***** nightclub in the Stureplan district. According to some witnesses on the scene, the player privatized a space.

Asked about the subject, Didier Deschamps had indicated that there was no controversy to be found in this evening. “What a subject on Mbappé” ? He's not here, eh! From a regulatory point of view, he does purely what he wants, from a private point of view too. Everyone will have their own perception. Maybe Aurelien (Tchouaméni) is aware of his club's schedule and that of Mbappé and knows if he is free to go… That doesn't mean he didn't watch the match, didn't send messages, “to me too”, assured the coach of the Blues.

Latest updates

The captain of the French team has learned of the information coming from the Swedish press and reporting accusations of rape, which allegedly took place the night he was staying at the establishment with members of his family. Kylian Mbappé reacted by citing an article from RMC Sport relaying this information, shouting on X: “Fake News! “It's becoming so predictable, on the eve of a hearing as if by chance”. The article cited by the player does not indicate that the player is accused of rape.

17:20 – No controversy for Real over Mbappé's evening in Sweden

As the coach of the Blues explained, Kylian Mbappé certainly had free time and could do what he wanted. The newspaper Relevo in fact assures that within the Madrid club, this Swedish trip did not cause any controversy. Mbappé's trip was planned, the club was informed and Real Madrid believes that everyone is free to do what they want during their rest periods.

16:14 – Medical care caused the investigation

According to information from the Swedish daily Aftonbladet, the alleged victim filed a complaint after receiving medical treatment, which triggered the police investigation. For the time being, once again, nothing shows or proves a link with the French attacker or those close to him.
