Gladiator 2: the first reviews are in, the film has generated strong reactions

La suite du film à succès de Ridley Scott arrive très bientôt sur grand écran. Une première projection test a eu lieu la semaine dernière à Los Angeles, et c'est très rassurant pour les fans.

According to information from Variety, a first test screening took place in front of the Oscar and SAG Awards voters in Los Angeles. The reactions have been generally very positive, and the film could earn new nominations (or even awards) for Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington this year. Some American media have already was able to see the film, and among the first reactions, we can read on social networks comments that hail “an “epic” sequel, punctuated by “good action scenes, excellent special effects and stellar performances”, “a political Roman opera”. “Sir Ridley Scott proves that no one else can make “epic” films like this. his way."

In this sequel, which takes place about twenty years after the first episode, it is the adventures of Lucius, son of Lucilia and Maximus (as confirmed by Ridley Scott), which will be told by the British filmmaker, who returns for the occasion behind the camera. The first trailer shared last October proves that Ridley Scott is not here to laugh! In this epic and impressive trailer, we can discover extracts of the first fights with Paul Mescal (nominated for the Oscar for best actor in 2023) and Pedro Pascal (The Last of us, Game of Thrones), but we can also get a first look at each of the film's roles and intense war scenes. 

Gladiator 2 is one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year. First of all, thanks to its casting, which brings together stars of the small screen (actors seen in The Last of Us, Normal People or Stranger Things) and Hollywood bigwigs like Denzel Washington, but also by bringing back to life the characters played in the first film by Connie Nielsen (Lucilla) and Djimon Hounsoun -Juba). Just a little more patience before discovering this epic sequel, which is due out on November 13, 2024 in France.
