The weather is calming down this week, with an event that has not occurred in France for months.
While a stormy episode crossed the south-east this weekend, holidaymakers will be hoping for more favourable weather this week, which will also be marked by the long weekend of 1 November. Although fog was noticeable from this Monday morning, the weather should calm down this week thanks to an Açores high pressure system. The sky will remain overcast, particularly from the Channel to Lorraine and showers are still possible near the Mediterranean this Monday. An anticyclone, especially in autumn, does not necessarily sound with bright sunshine.
The rest of the week looks set to be calm, thanks to the particular situation in which France currently finds itself: the country “will be located between a solid anticyclone at 1030 hPa positioned in the North Sea and depressions evolving between the Balearic Islands, Spain and Morocco”, a positioning which “is favorable to maintaining calm weather over 95% of the territory”, explains La Chainé Météo . This prolonged absence of disturbance is a fairly exceptional event: the Chaine Météo specifies that we have to go back to October 2023 to find a period of one week without rain on a national scale. You read that right: France will therefore experience a phenomenon unprecedented for a year: no rain on the territory for 7 days! Here is which should make people happy!

According to the forecasts of Météo France, beautiful éclear spells should arrive on Tuesday over a good part of the territory, even if the grayness will persist in the North and in Brittany. Wednesday and especially Thursday are announced as very beautiful days, with sunshine almost everywhere in the afternoon after the passage of the morning fog. For All Saints' Day, fog will be present in the north and east, while a beautiful sun will persist in the west.
Côté temperatures, they will still be above seasonal norms, with a slight drop that will be noticeable at the end of the week with a slightly cooler weekend. Another piece of good news: this calm weather could last a little while. In its trends, Météo France predicts, in fact, for the beginning of November, that "the weather will remain anticyclonic, therefore calm and generally dry. Temperatures should be above seasonal norms".
