For two years now, Nvidia has been raking in crazy amounts of money thanks to its chips for generative AI. The Californian company is now eyeing a very promising market: PC chips. Enough to make giants like Intel and AMD tremble.
A launch as early as 2025?
We first discussed a partnership with MediaTek to launch a common PC AI platform next year. According to Digitimes, this idea has not been abandoned, but it is accompanied by another initiative. In fact, the firm is working on an independent project based on ARM for the general public and commercial market which would also see the light of day in 2025.
According to our colleagues, the company is so well positioned in the AI market and its design capabilities are so advanced that it could quickly take over the ARM-based Windows ecosystem.
The specialized media does not beat around the bush:
The sources say that Nvidia's strengths in AI and advanced PC platform design, refined with its Tegra and Grace processors, position it for a major entry into the market.

It adds: “Nvidia's influence and supply power in AI servers, combined with overlapping PC and server supply chains, could increase its chances of success against x86, which could allow it to gain support from laptop brands.”.
The PC chip market is coming alive
The competition is not standing still on this issue. We recently told you about the approach of Intel and AMD, which have created an advisory board on the x86 ecosystem. Seeing the names of the companies involved in this project, we quickly understand that it is serious: Microsoft, Google, Meta, Dell, Lenovo, Oracle, and HP.
Nvidia also has every interest in not resting on its laurels too much. Indeed, its customers are increasingly trying to develop their own chips to secure their supply chains. Thus, to cite just one major example, OpenAI is reportedly working on its own internal chip, relying on the Taiwanese manufacturer TSMC. Production is expected to start in 2026. What to remember:
- Nvidia is working on PC chips in collaboration with MediaTek
- Another independent project should see the light of day next year
- The Californian company has very serious assets to keep its bet
