LFP: why the League headquarters was searched ?

According to information from L'Equipe, the LFP was raided this Tuesday, November 5.

L'Equipe announced this Tuesday, November 5 that searches were carried out as part of the investigation by the national financial prosecutor's office into the €1.5 billion agreement signed between the Professional Football League and the CVC investment fund in 2022. The other searches took place at the same time at the home of the president of the LFP, Vincent Labrune, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), but also at the premises of CVC.

The search came after the Senate report on the management of the LFP, and in particular the conditions of this agreement with CVC. It had also targeted Vincent Labrune's salary, which had tripled at the time of the deal (to reach 1.2 million euros per year). The investigations are being conducted by the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offenses (OCLICIFF) and the gendarmerie's research section.

As a reminder, this deal had been criticized because the LFP had sold 13.04% of its income to CVC in exchange for an initial check for 1.5 billion euros intended to replenish the coffers of Ligue 1 clubs…
