It's been a few months now that a new breach has been opened in the tech market. Exit foldable smartphones and other smartwatches, make way for the era of the connected ring. In 2024, it was the giant Samsung that took the plunge, by launching its small Galaxy Ring, a connected ring that we were able to test for a period of 30 days. However, at the present time (and in our eyes in any case) it is impossible for the connected ring to replace a connected watch. Recently, it was Apple's connected ring (the one that could rule them all) that came back into the news.
Casio's turn to unveil its connected ring
While waiting for Apple and the other tech giants, it was a certain Casio who recently lifted the veil on a ring that was, to say the least, astonishing. Indeed, Casio is known for its calculators, but also for its very famous digital watches, which have an undeniable vintage side (in addition to being particularly practical).

Indeed, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to integrate a screen into its ring. However, this is one of the major advantages of connected objects without a screen: their battery life can reach record levels.
With its ring, Casio therefore wants to play on the nostalgic chord that it does with its famous watches. Here we find a small monochrome LCD screen with seven-segment LEDs, with an overall design that takes up the look of one of the brand's most famous watches, namely the Casio Digital A168, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
And that's not all! The ring also has three small buttons that allow access to the classic functions of Casio watches, such as the stopwatch for example. Casio announces battery operation, with a battery life of approximately 2 years.

However, and unlike a Samsung Galaxy Ring (to name just one), this ring by Casio… is not a connected ring. Indeed, without a heart rate sensor or other form of pairing with a smartphone, since this little CRW-001-1JR is in reality a watch, available in a ring format. Its one and only function will therefore be: to tell the time.
Price and availability
For the time being, the small ring signed Casio is only planned for Japan, with a launch scheduled for December, for a price of €120.
