According to a study, a job is particularly a source burnout.
Each profession can be tiring in its own way. There is the range of hours, the direct physical impact of certain professions, too much mental workload, very strong responsibilities or pressure… Some people sometimes fail to overcome these conditions and fall into burnout, a syndrome of professional exhaustion. A study conducted by the professional social network LinkedIn looked into this topic.
After an analysis conducted among 16,000 professionals in the United States over a period of several months in 2024, an alarming finding was highlighted: 40% of those surveyed considered themselves close to burnout. The study analyzed the profiles of those who gave such a response. Young workers and women are in the majority and would therefore be more likely to suffer from professional burnout. They also often come from large companies. Conversely, employees who benefit from teleworking would be less inclined to do so overall.

The study also noted the professional environment in which the participants operate. Those who appeared to be the least exhausted were in consulting positions, real estate or business development, of which 33% responded that they were exhausted. Next come employees in the communications field (37%).
Higher up in the ranking, educational staff (45%), quality controllers (47%), social workers (48%) and nursing staff (49%) are among the top 5 professions considered the most difficult. In these sectors, workers express intense fatigue. And at the top of the podium, it is yet another category that reigns: project managers. Half of them say they feel burnout. And this profession is not uncommon in France: half of companies employ at least one project manager, the job involves tens of thousands of positions.
It's not just a question of schedules and meeting deadlines. This job also involves a very broad multidisciplinary approach and requires knowing how to respond to varied requirements. There is also an intermediary role between employees and clients, and team management. According to Kandi Wiens, director of the master's program in medical education at the University of of Pennsylvania, to CNBC , "the most common concern among project managers is that they don't get adequate support or recognition to meet the changing demands they face in their role."
