Laura Smet confided in a long interview at Paris Match. The actress returned to the last moments of her life. “I came every day, but I wasn't going to talk to him about what I felt. There were some somewhat violent exchanges between him and me, but I just came to tell him my lovetotal, intact.”

The end in the illnesswas hard on his daughter, the fruit of his love with Nathalie Baye. “At the Bizet clinic, David, his wife and I were told that it was over. We were also told that he didn't want to stay there and that he was going to be in palliative care at home. That, he didn't know, so we shouldn't have told him. It was horrible.” confides Laura Smet.

Laura Smet returns to the funeral of her father

The funeral of Johnny Hallyday took place on December 9, 2017, at the church of La Madeleine in Paris. “I didn't understand anything about that day. I was completely absent. I had tinnitus.” explains Laura Smet. “I didn't know at all that it was going to be like that. I remember calling a friend, saying: 'I think there will be some photographers. Can you help me because I can't do anything.' That's to say I was à the masses.”

Absent, she then learned things about what was to come next for her father. “I was unaware of the burial in St-Barth. I learned about it at the time and I hallucinated. David and I were stunned. We followed the movement to be with him until the end.” David Hallyday and Laura Smet experienced complicated periods with their father's wife, Laeticia Hallyday.

She communicates with Johnny Hallyday

Since his death in 2017, Laura Smet continues to feel the presence of Johnny Hallyday. “I feel it a lot. A day like today, he's really been there, it's very strange. I see a lot of signs from him. It comes through body language, cravings for food, it's weird and pleasant. In his own way, he accompanies me again.”

And her father's messages guide her daily. “The TV movie I shot for France 2, it was him who advised me to do it. I got married on June 15, 2019, his birthday, because it was the only date available that year. The boat that was supposed to take us to Cap-Ferret arrived late. I went to a café that had just opened. It was 7:30 and on the radio I heard: 'Laura.' It was as if he was saying to me: 'Excuse me, I didn't wake up in time. But now we can go.' And I spent a day completely perched thanks to him.” is moved Laura Smet.
